Who are we

Kuitakwashe Support organization is a non-profit organization working towards a total uplift and development of children and youth within their families and communities. The organization focuses its attention on children and youth who are abusing, survivors or at risk of abusing drugs and substances. Currently the organization is at an advanced stage of registration as a Private Voluntary Organization with the Department of Social development. However, the organization was granted permission to operate some of its planned activities by the Local Government whilst waiting for the completion of the registration. As such the organisation intends to implement a positive parenting programme, awareness campaigns and Lifeskills education in its area of operation targeting children and youth who are survivors of drug and substance abuse as well as those who are at risk of abusing drugs and substance abuse.

Our findings states that, children and youth abusing drugs or at risk of abusing drugs has potential and an inherent ability to deal with their own socioeconomic problems. Socioeconomic problems which some resulted in them resorted to misuse of drugs and substances. However, what is lacking is a user friendly environment which enables children and youth to realize their full potential. In this regard, parents or caregivers are better positioned to create a user-friendly environment through positive parenting for children and youth to realize their inherent ability to be masters of their own life challenging problems.
Additionally, evidence has shown us that positive parenting is very effective, affordable and very accessible to our targeted clientele. On that same note, positive parenting has been proven to be one of the most effective behavior change program internationally. To children at risk of abusing drugs and substances, positive parenting also proves to be an effective preventative program which is within the reach of our targeted clientele. This program is targeting children between the age of 12-18 years and youth between the age of 18-24 years. Parents/caregivers of these targeted children and youth will be mobilized to formulate family club groups. Once these family club groups are established, positive parenting sessions will be delivered to these family club groups by trained and certified facilitators of Positive Parenting. The Positive parenting sessions will be delivered in a session -based manner encouraging participation of both the targeted children and youth and their parents/caregivers. Apart from helping families to deal w with drugs and substance abuse among children and youth the positive parenting sessions will also help families to be economically stable. Thus, equipping families with legal, safe and health ways and skills of raising money at household level. Life skills education is a program shared to youth serving organisations with the aim to build resilient and empowered adolescents and young people. Life skills education will be delivered in sessions and will be highly interactive to allow the youths to be open. Life skills education sessions are conducted by trained facilitators of Young Africa International. This program a powerful and rich program to the targeted clientele as it helps them develop coping mechanisms needed to resist drug and substance abuse.
